CW Brings Back One Tree Hill and Life UneXpected; Kills Melrose Place

Finally, some good news!

After months of on-the-bubble torture, The CW is officially bringing both One Tree Hill and Life UneXpected back for more. Talk about a sweet reprieve! The network also picked up two new shows, and based on what we're hearing, LUX and OTH might have a little more competition next season...

First, let us take a moment to honor the just-fallen Melrose Place, which The CW has officially axed. (Pardon me, while I embarrassingly sob for a moment.)

Helping to fill the void left by MP are two new shows on The CW's 2010-2011 lineup:

Nikita, a revamped version of the cult classic La Femme Nikita which is supposed to be nothing short of totally kickass, and Hellcats, the Tom Welling produced extreme-cheerleading drama.
Something tells us these two won't have any trouble finding an audience, given that the casts are both unbelievably gorgeous and talented.

Nikita's got action star Maggie Q, Shane West, Melinda Clarke and How I Met Your Mother's daughter herself, Lyndsy Fonseca. And Hellcats boasts Disney faves Aly Michalka and Ashley Tisdale. So, there's that factor to take into consideration.

No official word on what kind of episode orders OTH and LUX have received, but we're hearing they'll spilt the season down the middle with 13 each.
And while we're raving about all good things, let's give a big shout out to Miss Liz Tigelaar for being both an awesome lady and creating Life Unexpected, one of the best new series' in years.

Thanks for LUX—and wouldn't you know, she's excited about the renewal, too. Check out her cutesy tweet:  "Season 2 Baby!!!!!!! Yippppeeeee!"

Melrose Place Reunion

Finally, the moment that I have waited for since the new Melrose Place began.  On March 30th, a one night only reunion will occur between Amanda, Jo, Michael, and Jane on Melrose Place.

It's still unclear whether this show will be renewed or not.  I think that if they are going to try and shove a cheap ass version of 90210 down out throats without any more Kelly and Brenda, then they should let us adults have out Melrose Place.  It's obvious that this show is just finding it's footing and has potential.  I think the firing of Ashlee Simpson and Colin Eggelsfield was a bit hasty in my opinion, but if they have a plan, more power to them.  All I ask is that you renew this show and give us something juicy to watch during the week again.  Although, if it comes down to Melrose Place and Life UneXpected, then I'm glad I got to see this mini-reunion before it goes.  Could we get Marcia Cross on loan just to blow the place up again?

Will Melrose Place Be Saved?

My new guilty pleasure, Melrose Place, has long been on the hopping block and been at the risk of being cancelled.  They tried to turn things around by firing the non-actress Ashlee Simpson, but made a mistake by also letting Colin Egglesworth go with her.

But Dr. Michael Mancini himself, Thomas Calabro, told E!'s Mark Malkin that he feels as if Melrose Place will triumph since internationally the show is a hit.  We must also remember that the original MP almost didn't make it, but Heather Locklear saved that show.  Is it possible she will be able to do the same to this one?

The Sydney murder mystery dragged on throughout the first half of the season before blowing up tremendously at the very end.  And what a payoff it was, for me at least.  The twist was something I didn't see coming at all, and the resurection of Jo, Jane, Amanda, and Michael fan-freaking-tastic.

Calabro also hinted at a reunion episode that would bring all of the MP alumni together in one scene.  I don't know about you, but I suggest giving this nighttime soap a gander.  Sure it was dark and seemed very serious in the beginning, but reports are that when MP returns, it will be a lot lighter and have more humor.  Plus, how fun is it to see all the character's we loved to hate from the 90's?  Still hoping that Kimberly shows up with a bomb again.  That was the best season finale ever!  Is anyone on the MP boat with me or would you rather it hit an iceberg and sink quickly?

Now if we can get them to renew Life UneXpected.
