Kate Winslett Escapes From Blaze

Early Monday morning around 4 a.m a severe thunderstorm hit the Caribbean Islands.   The storm severely hit the small island retreat, Necker Island, owned by Richard Branson.  Lightning struck the house and set it ablaze, with 20 people inside.

Among the people in the house were Branson's wife, son and daughter and mother.  Kate Winslet was also staying in the main house with her boyfriend and family.  Kate actually carried Branson's 90 year old mother to safety from the burning house!  Branson's son Sam also rushed to get everyone out of the house safely, and no injuries were reported.

Branson says that the main house was completely destroyed.   He has owned the paradise in the British Virgin Islands for over 20 years now and plans on rebuilding as soon as he can.

Wow. Cory Monteith was just there as well. Beautiful place - it is a shame. I'm glad everyone got out safely.
